thank you, that is probably what I need to get started.

As an aside I know the different BSD's all started from the same
parent,
and that they still seem to exchange some development effort,
even if they do not all share the same focus or philosophy.

Is there some resource that might identify the differences and
similarities -
particularly from a systems developers perspective ?
