I spent quite some time trying to figure out why; I couldn't.
Therefore, I submitted the patch. I posed the question to several
local peers and our paranoia level was far too high to understand
the functionality (that of which still hasn't been described, so if
you've got a URL of a previous discussion, I'd greatly appreciated
it. I find no followups on a single post from 04 Nov 2001).
