The difficulty is, that Tethered mode has a variety of methods depending on the carrier. Under Windows, Tethered GSM blackberries are seen as Dial-up Networking devices, and provide Internet access by dialling a unique phone number to attach to data. The SIM card data is used for the authentication. Tethered CDMA (1xEVDO) blackberries use a companion piece of software (Bell Voyageur / Mobile Connect) to provide the Status/Gateway for the same setup. Either way, You could use a USB sniffer to do line monitoring to figure out the setup/connection bits. But this would need to be done for all variants of Blackberries, and a base threshold of what tethered devices can work, and which will work, and those that won't. Likewise, this has to be done for a large amount of Carriers to establish common connection parameters, and Carrier Specific Parameters. As it is, My Data Plan limits me to only using the BB in tethered mode for very short periods of time. Until the Jesus Phone is in Canada, and Competition for Data rates are seen, I'm simply going to stick to Windows for connectivity, keep a FAT32 partition handy, and move data accordingly for when I am doing oBSD bits on my laptop. The sole reason for which, is the Bell Voyageur software shows the data transfer totals and I can keep within my limits, otherwise I go wireline with a 56K modem, where data rates are closer to reasonable. -sean __________________________________________________ _______________ Try Chicktionary, a game that tests how many words you can form from the letters given.
