Ok, I will do so.

Perhaps merging this patch is more time efficient, since, otherwise,
you would have to do a full code audit all over again, no? This way,
the patch would be the only thing needed to have a code audit done on
it.

But, if a new version is necessary for other reasons (may I know what
they are?), then I accept that. You would need to be sure and merge
a version >= 2.3.7 of pppd.
