| The other day I was at the local news stand. I was looking at the Linux Format magazine (DVD edition) to see what programs they put on the DVD. The cover mentioned something about a Slackware-Live iso being included on the DVD. I said to myself, "I thought the only way that you could get the Slackware Live CD was to buy it." I bought the magazine and brought it home so I could check this Slackware-Live iso. It turned that this iso is a distro based on Slackware, that is supposed to fit on a mini CD. The iso is 187 MB and I only have 180 MB mini CD-Rs so I burned it to a 700 MB CD-RW and booted it up. Actually, it is pretty neat. It has KDE 3.1 that looks really good. I booted it on my Winblows box, and as it booted it requested and got a lease from dhcp on my Slackware box. I could use ssh to log on to my Slackware box, but I could not get the web page to work from the Slackware-Live box. There was another mini CD Linux distro called LNX-BBC on the DVD, which I also tried. The LNX-BBC could not get a lease from my Slackware box like the Slackware-Live distro did. I guess that the Slackware-Live will come in handy for doing rescue type work, and showing people how Slackware Linux works. If anyone is interested in checking it out it can be found at: www.slackware-live.org There are scripts that let a person create their own Slackware-Live CD at the site, if one desires to do so. -- jamess Slackware Linux...
