Sure, get your name into the Changelog by being the first to report an issue -- reporting to aols as well may help, especially if others have seen the same issue they may know a work-around. That address is for bug reports, if its a security issue then the address can be found here: <URL: http://www.slackware.com/contact/> -- Thomas O. This area is designed to become quite warm during normal operation. |

Well, I've been posting here, but nobody seems to experience the same problem ( was "KDE crash with nvidia 9755 on current"). I think it's not only a kde issue, all apps linked against libGL and libGLcore seem to be affected. THX Joerg -- For email use g m x d o t n e t |

Nvidia 9755 is not part of Slackware and there is no way that Slackware or even X.org can fix that problem. When you install nVidia 9755 you replace the opensource nv driver from X.org with a closed source driver from nvidia. You also replace the opensource OpenGL libraries with closed source libraries from nVidia. To debug and fix a program you need the source, the only people that have the source for this problem is nVidia. You should report the problem to nVidia, not to Slackware or X.org. Still, posting about the problem in this group might be a good idea if someone else would happen to know a workaround. However, the only people that are able to fix bugs related to the driver or libraries are nVidia. regards Henrik -- The address in the header is only to prevent spam. Try downgrading to x 7.1. 7.2 does not work well. To try two things: 1, use the native nv drivers, 2, try the vesafb drivers. This is not a Slackware problem. -- Peter |

The point is that I'm trying to find out, what's causing the trouble with this driver in current, since it worked well for me in 11.0. I guess it is what Peter was pointing out, that Xorg in current is causing the problems. In that case, it may be a good idea to a) file a bug report with nvidia, b) point out to Pat that there are issues with X and nvidia binarries in current. Nobody is expecting him to fix nvidia drivers or Xorg stuff, but probably reports about issues will help him to decide which version of a particular application to include in slackware. Overheard in ##slackware today on irc.freenode.net... 16:13 < alienBOB> noizze, do you use a closedsource Nvidia or Ati display driver? If so, did you re-install that one after the x11 package uprgade? That upgrade overwrites one of the files of those drivers... the libGL Might very well be your problem. - -- It is better to hear the rebuke of the wise, Than for a man to hear the song of fools. KDE in slack-current works here with the fix from cizu jones. Grant. -- http://bugsplatter.mine.nu/ |
