Default bus error

Hmm.. I keep getting a strange errors.

Now I get BUS error. Everything seems pretty much working. But then
occasionally the HD light stays on and when I try to access the disk it says
"BUS ERROR" or "I/O Error"..

Hmm something wrong with my HD?

I'd say you suddenly began to see the light )

Sursum corda !
(and no, it doesn't mean "search a new cord")

And this means what? I cant believe something would be wrong with my HD
because it's well tested and it has never failed before. It's also one of
the reliable IBM deskstars. No weird noises nothing.. I'm very much sure its
something in the settings.

I bet you dont know the answer yourself, that's why you write obscure
answers and foul irony. Prove me wrong.

Even one eyed monkey can see that you are not a true professional and you
know much less than you claim to. You obviously try to get rid of me by your
ugly sarcasm. Well think again! Coz it wont work!
True professionals have better things to do than mock someone who is just
asking for advice. Grow up.

:/ I think thats the first time I've seen "reliable" and "deskstar" in the
same sentance. There is currently a class action lawsuit against IBM for
knowingly selling faulty deskstar drives. I'm surprised a google search
for "deskstar reliability" doesn't give you a
"did you mean deskstar unreliability"

Considering the track record of deskstars (aka deathstars) I would buy a new
drive and start transfering your data. Harddrives are dirt cheap.

False, you have to be sure I used to be one of the few trying and help
you.

> by your
> ugly sarcasm.

That's the second time you say this kind of remark.
Though I really was not sarcastic, I wasn't at all,
be totlly sure that if I ever come to be sarcastic at
you, you'll know it, and it'll be another game.

I only tried, and missed,
to help you through your excitation by a salutary laugh that
would help you to cool down a bit, just the time for you to
go on reading what the posters still wanting to give you an
help posted, instead of typing other posts, other threads ...

Now, are you going, or not, to stop making nonsense ?
Did you try to google about your problems and their symptoms ?
This group is not the only place to get some help; especially that
your problem is prolly more hardware than slack conf, I admit
that it may be you made a very deep scar in some conf somewhere, but as
long as your post keep technicaly no-descriptive, no log, no test,
no proof of concept, no blindtest/comparizon in some other OS,
it is not very easy to help you.

Whenever someone gives you a test line your answer is
"I don't know that". This won't help at all.

Whenever someone tells you that your problems might
be in the hardware you yell "that can be, this hardware has been
thouroughly admitted the best by me, it can be wrong". This won't
help you, and even worse, this won't give you a good score in
many people killfiles, that's not good for you because I might not
be the best one to be able to help you and thos people you slammed
the door could've been.

I kept along with you because, as a musician too, I know the breed,
I also had the ipetus, the tension, even had the need for fame ;-)
But you're treading on your shadow, and that's a bad bet.

Have some seconds of relaxation, have some nice mead, have a smile
read back all what many posters told you, including the smiles,
and come back with clear questions and tests.

You are hardly endearing yourself to those who may be inclined to help
you.

A hard dive that hasn't failed before is no test of reliability, think about
how illogical your statement is!

Obviously not so reliable as someone has pointed out

Noises have little to do with determining reliability. And why are you so
sure???

Maybe the answers are unknows because the tech info needed is missing, that
would be an error on your part

the best use for an IBM deathstar hard drive is propping up a table with
a short leg so you can have your phonebook back.
other uses include paperweight, doorstops, bookends, clocks.
you could also remove the magnets and use them for other stuff.
If you put blades on it, it would make a really fast blender.

but whatever you do, don't store data on one.
at least don't store data you need on one.

Most likely, yes.

If you are going to use a signature block, please learn how to do it
properly. Since I already know you cannot look up anything for yourself,
I'll just tell you how...

You see the five "-----" you used above? That needs to be two (--)
followed by a space. Then hit enter, and put your signature text below
that.

If you're not on the edge, you're taking up too much space.
