| Hi, I'm currently trying to setup a friend's PC. Configuring X is a slight problem. The monitor is a 15'' flat screen one, named "LB500" (sic). No way to retrieve the monitor manual with the specs. Normally, in such a case, I boot a copy of Knoppix and take a peek at /etc/X11/Xf86Config-4, only I haven't got it here, and there's no way this afternoon to get one (far-off countryside here I tried xorgsetup, and that's what X "guessed" so far: HorizSync 31.0 - 61.0 VertRefresh 56.0 - 0.0 0.0 is obviously wrong. Tried to replace it with a roughly estimated 75.0 (known to work on _some_ 15'' flat screens), but the screen went black. And no way to find the specs via Google. 1) How reliable are the three guessed values besides 0.0? 2) How to get the max VertRefresh? Any suggestions? LG has a monitor sold as the LB500 and also as the L1510S. The manual can be found at http://www.lge.com/support/manual_gcsc.jsp You will have to work your way from there. I selected Europe and France, as N.A./USA produced nothing. For what it's worth, the manual says the specs are: Horiz. - 31-61kHz (automatic) Vert. - 56-75 Hz (automatic) Pretty close to what xorgsetup gave you, and exactly what failed when you tried it. Is this monitor known to actually work? -- Old Man |

My xorg.conf has: HorizSync 31.5 - 75.0 VertRefresh 60.0 - 60.0 But mine is a Dell Inspiron 5150 at 1600x1200.
