Default Change default HTML-viewer in KDE Slackware 10???How?

I've been searching the net for hours without any useful information in ho
to change the defafult HTML-viewer in KDE 3.2 on my SW 10 system.
When I e.g. klick on a help button in a application (Real Player 10) it
opens Mozilla 1.7. I want it to open Firefox.

Every answer says you have to go to Control Center and change the file
associations under 'KDE Components'. I've done that but it doesn't work. I
recall about six month ago I changed a string, something like
'defaultbrowser=my browser' in a config file somewere. But I have forgotten
what it whas. But that did the trick.

It's amazing that so many people are asking about this but no one has an
answer that works.

Please fellow slackers. Are there an expert among you that has an answer?
This one is driving me nuts! I have sorted out all my problems with SW 10
but this one.

Help would be very appreciated.
BW

you're trying to change the default browser for a non-KDE app. the
procedure that you describe will work, but only for KDE apps. non-KDE apps
usually have their own way of setting the default browser.

Thanks for your answer! You don't happen to know where I can change the html
viewer for RP 10. My system is a laptop with a 450 MHz processor and fairly
slow hard drive. Open Mozilla takes to much time compared to Firefox.

Why don't you ask the people who make RealPlayer 10?

Just guessing here, RP probably opens either 'netscape' (or 'mozilla' if
it doesn't find netscape). What you might try doing is, make a link named
'netscape' that points to 'firefox'. If that doesn't work, you will have
to find bin/mozilla (/usr/bin/mozilla I think), move it back into the
mozilla-1.x directory, and replace it with a link named 'mozilla' that
points to firefox. If you aren't using mozilla, you could also just remove
it. Most non-kde apps seem to be looking for netscape or mozilla these
days, and just expect to find them in the path.

ln -s /path/to/firefox /usr/bin/netscape

Hope that works

Thanks Gary! I'll try that.

No problem, dipshit!

By the way, if you're going to call someone stupid, it helps not to do
something *really* stupid, like top-posting. Or calling somebody stupid
for directing you to the fucking creators of a program with questions
about it.

You won't score any points here by insulting one of the most
knowledgable Slackers in this groups. I suggest you offer Keith an
apology. His answer was right on the money. Real Player is not only not
a part of Slackware, it's not free software. Few people here use it,
and the people most qualified to answer that question are people who
know and see the ins and outs of the program, namely the people that
make Real Player.

After trying to find an answer to my question for hours, this answer was not
what I wanted. Maybe I overreacted a bit but I dont agree that this answer
was 'right on the money'. In that case we can skip posting/reading to
newsgroups alltogether.
If I have a question about Slackware should I post it directly to Pat
Volkerdink?
If I have a question about, lets say, a D-link router I should post it
directly to D-link? And so on...
If I dont have an answer I just don't bother to answer instead of posting a
useless answer.
