well everything is bloated to some extent, just spend a grand or so and get
a decent PC. Who cares if KDE loads lots of bloated libraries then when You
have just a little, more than you are used to, hardware to run it.

Lol.

That's not fair. Why are you taking out your anger on KDE when you
should be taking it out on the ... ;-)

I'm running enlightenment (0.16.8.5cvs) and not KDE or Gnome. I
agree the growing assumption that everyone has icons on their
desktop, or a start button on a taskbar (just like windows) is a tad
annoying, but no more so than the assumption that everyone uses
either rpm or deb package management.

I tend to use nedit for a text editor in X, but vim in console. I am
growing to like emacs though, as it seems to be the best environment
for learning Lisp (Slime is great).

slrn. But If I get comfortable in Emacs, gnus may get some use too.

iceWM, but if you have a decent machine, why not KDE or Gnome?

I have a similar question. I tried dillo and I like VERY much because it's
superlight. There is another one light browser? Firefox is heavy on my machine
Dillo is a problem since it's without tabs. I seek for kmeleon style browser
in Linux. There is any? links works great, but sometimes I need graphic
support.
