If you don't have composite enabled then you should either enable it in X or disable KDE trying to use it. In xorg.conf, you will need: Section "Extensions" Option "Composite" "Enable" EndSection Also, your video card may have additional settings. Lastly, you should probably consider using X >=7 for compositing. 6.9 (shipped with Slack 11) is not as reliable. -- Peter |

You may want to look at this: http://sourceforge.net/projects/slackware-xorg/ I have not tried it, so cannot vouch for it. I used the build script provided through the x.org website: http://wiki.x.org/wiki/ModularDevelopersGuide and, in particular: http://gitweb.freedesktop.org/?p=xor...om-tarballs.sh Good luck. peter@mars ~ $ cat /var/log/X*log X Window System Version 7.1.0 Release Date: 22 May 2006 X Protocol Version 11, Revision 0, Release 7.1 Build Operating System: Linux 2.6.19-beyond4 i686 Current Operating System: Linux mars 2.6.19-beyond4 #2 PREEMPT Tue Feb 6 11:37:16 EST 2007 i686 Build Date: 12 February 2007 -- Peter |
