| this is getting really freaking annoying. Everytime I turn the developmental gimp from the packages from either linuxpackages.net or the slack ftp's extra/ dir it always has problems loading unicode fonts I have installed. With an earlier version all I had to do was delete one of the fonts from my .fonts dir, fc-cache real fast, and it worked fine but with the latest it seemingly can't load ANYTHING. It's pathetic. here's an exampl output: --- spydir@spydir:~/.fonts$ gimp-1.3 /usr/lib/gimp/1.3/plug-ins/mng: error while loading shared libraries: libmng.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory (gimp-1.3:11693): LibGimpBase-WARNING **: gimp-1.3: wire_read(): error ** (gimp-1.3:11693): WARNING **: Unable to load unicode charmap from font file /home/spydir/.fonts/SCRAA___.TTF ** (gimp-1.3:11693): WARNING **: Unable to open font file /home/spydir/.fonts/SCRAA___.TTF for font Scrawn AOE 21.3330078125, falling back to /home/spydir/.fonts/geekabyte.ttf ** (gimp-1.3:11693): WARNING **: Unable to load unicode charmap from file /home/spydir/.fonts/geekabyte.ttf, exiting /usr/lib/gimp/1.3/plug-ins/script-fu: fatal error: GIMP crashed (script-fu:11695): LibGimp-WARNING **: script-fu: gimp_flush(): error: Broken pipe --- What could be causing this inane problem and how can fix it? -- WARNING!!: SHAMELESS SELF PROMOTION BELOW! | I saw that but what does that have to do with unicode? Am I just missing some unsaid rule about fonts on slackware I've never been made aware of before? I figured since i do no work what so ever with animated PNG's I didn't need to worry about the MNG libs...
