| I posted this query to the Firefox user list but thought I might get a better/faster answer here. I have slack 10.1 and firefox 1.0.2 (I think.) Just today I got popup window purporting to be some sort of user feedback for Firefox. The cancel button is grayed out.I finally killed it by doing ps -x in a console and then a kill statement. But if I restart Firefox back it comes. Is this a virus? If so I can just wipe out Firefox and use Knoqueror instead. If it is not a virus, how do I turn the dang thing off? -- John Culleton Able Indexers and Typesetters |

If it is not a virus, how do I turn the dang thing off? you might want to put up a screenshot somewhere (do not send it to the NG), so we can see what's going on. firefox did have some security fixes recently, the recommended version is now 1.0.5. -- Joost Kremers joostkremers@yahoo.com Selbst in die Unterwelt dringt durch Spalten Licht EN:SiS(9) |

| For this purpose I'll use http://wexfordpress.net. I will put up the screenshot at about 3 PM EDT. Thanks all. John C. |

Are you sure it isn't just the crash-handler you've seen? When it comes up it has the cancel button grayed out, but if you click the next button twice you'll see cancel option activated. I've never tried to kill it so I don't know if it comes up again afterwards when firefox is restarted. -- Thomas O. This area is designed to become quite warm during normal operation. |

The screenshot is posted on http://wexfordpress.net/index.html I didn't follow the advice on hitting the next button twice because I don't know what that might do. Since I made no change to Firefox today I am puzzled by the whole business. I have been on Slack for about a decade and a virus has never touched me but there is always a first time. And on the Dark Side I turned off the instant messenger just to cut down on the noise level of virus wannabees. -- John Culleton Able Indexers and Typesetters |
