I'm going to have to agree with what Joe says, because I don't remember
where or when I got it. It must have been from Adobe some time ago.

Which is it? Slackware 11 or Slackware -current -- they are
NOT the same thing.

Hence they were both listed. In its present state, my box is more
-current than 11... I upgraded Flash shortly after FF2; I thought that
was before I upgraded x11, gcc, etc to current (a couple weeks ago)...

Either way, the OP seemed curious whether upgrading would fix his
problems; my experience is yes (though I don't have a clean slate to say
exactly how far is needed).

If using a nvidia driver with Flash + Firefox you get a unstable
program. Using a standard driver improves performance.

As far as I know it is a problem in the combination of Flash 9,
nvidia driver for X11 and the X11 version of Slack 10.2.
It also happens with firefox 1.5 and even Mozilla 1.7.13
Systems without nvidia (cards and drivers) haven't had any
problems, even in 10.2

No, same systems that consistently crashed under 10.2 now are
rocksteady here with 9.0r31 under 11.0
Of course the X11 version _did_ change, from 6.8.x to 6.9.0 and we
now also are using newer nvidia versions too.

This is the fix, at least it's what worked for me:

The Flash plugin files are installed by default in
/usr/lib/mozilla/plugins , where they are theoretically available to the
various variations of Mozilla browser (such as Firefox).

Copy them into the /usr/lib/firefox-1.5.0.9/plugins directory also, which
shouldn't be necessary, but fixed the browser crashing issue for me.
Adjust the path to Firefox plugins directory as needed for your system.

YMMV.
