Default Ftp

After installing version 9.0 of Slack I notice I can't
ftp localhost ( or the actual name of the machine).
I checked srvices and it's in there, I checked inetd.conf
and it's in there, inetd is starting up ok, I don't have
a firewall on this machine (I'm behind another), I checked
all the ftp.. files in etc and they are all ok, I even
started ftpd from the command line and I still get the
error:
Service not available, remote server has closed connection.

So what am I forgetting? (^:

But is the line uncommented, from the error message it sounds like it is,
however i thought i would mention it.

Is the program actaually installed. Check the name of the program and the
path in /etc/inetd.conf .

I looked again and inetd was calling wu.ftpd instead of proftpd.
Small oversight. (:

Thanks

As a point of interest, Pat has just issued a couple of security
bulletins relating to both wu-ftpd and proftpd. You should upgrade
whichever you use. Check the 9.0 ChangeLog for more details.
