| Hi all, i'm using slackware-current and it worked quite good so far. Mozilla web browser got removed, with all his related libraries... as you could already have guessed gaim ssl support (which is based on mozilla-nss in slack) got broken. Adding /usr/lib/firefox to /etc/ld.so.conf and running ldconfig made all work as usual. How can this be told to PV? By email or there's a know iter to follow? Bye. | Hi, I'm using slackware 10.1 with no mozilla web browser installed I tried do run gaim, but kept getting an error message about ss support I use firefox for browsing so I've added "/usr/lib/mozilla-firefox" t "/etc/ld.so.conf" and runned "ldconfig" The problem now is that despite I'm no longer getting the erro message, I still can't connect to my messager acount. It just stay in "connecting" forever.. Can anyone help me about it Message posted via ==================== www.linuxpackages.net/foru www.linuxpackages.ne Expanding the world of Slackwar ===================== |

My last battle with this thing took 5 hours, 30-odd reconfigures, 4 cups of coffee, and 18 cigarettes. In the end, I STILL ended up having to install mozilla just for two libraries. Now, I have a 19M IM client (still better than an unused 55M browser, though). -- Yeah really, if someone is going to pick a fight on Internet, THIS is no place to expect to win it. Too bad the shattered corpses of the past don't stack up for such losers to see. -Quaestor on NANAE |

My Slackware 10.1 package is here: http://sox.homeip.net/slackware/slac...zilla-nss/pkg/ and when you go up a directory, you'll find the SlackBuild script plus everything else you need to rebuild the package if you do not trust my binaries. In that case you've probably got Mozilla back (it got re-added on march 26th), and in that case you won't be experiencing the problems as described by the OP. BTW your comments are quite condensed... I was (almost) having troubles grasping what you're telling here. But it could be the time of night, too :-) Still, what did you mean by "enable SSL and SHL on boot"? Cheers, Eric |

Anyway, yes I use -current and no I did not have Mozilla Suite installed, nor Netscape 7.2, because I have Firefox and Thunderbird installed. I used Slapt-get to get all teh currents. Now on install did you do a full install or custom? If you did custom, you may have missed a few things. Regarding Full Install, yes I did the full install and it installed said things I do not use. Pkgtool came in handy there. and ftping the new KDE 3.4.0 and several other things from the Slack site and then installing new pkgs. SSL/SHL They are on by default if you set it up on install. |
