Hello all,

I've recently become a big fan of this news group. Learning to use tin
helped. I have it set up so I can use my favorite editor. That makes
posting easier.

I had been using the server news1.abac.com which is provided by my ISP,
but now it's not working. I don't know if they're going to fix it. So
I'm wondering how do all of you get your news?

I found a web site that lists free news servers
(http://www.newsparrot.co.uk/). It even specifies which ones can be
posted to. But when I try to post it doesn't work. (Do I need an
account perhaps?)

Of course, there is Google. That's how I'm posting this message. I'd
rather not use Google to post. It's not quick and easy like tin, and
it doesn't present the threads in an understandable fashion.

If you could recommend a news server and news service it would be
appreciated. Thanks.

Even though they are free most servers require that you have an account to
be able to post. This makes sense as a free news server open for anyone to
anonymous post to any group would result in a lot spam and other unwanted
messages in the groups.

A Danish university has a newsserver you can get access to if you
register here:

news.individual.net - used to be a free feed from a German university -
gone commercial, but the price is very reasonable - like about a euro per
month.

It's free, reliable and one hell of a lot better than my ISP's server.
