| Galeon is my choice of desktop x. This redmondfication of the desktop by kde is welcomed, but it's slow and is not with the spirit of the open source community. Why? Most of us want quick small reliable programs. We don't need complicated excel-like spreadsheets. Heck, that's the ssshaving cream i'm trying to get away from. Any database programmers out here? Well, you have an idea of what I am referring to. Oh! it's pretty to look at. A quality that Gnome could implement for future projects, but more effort and work should go toward the Gnome interface streamlining of efficent code and general philosophy -- Book: The Magic Of Mother Nature's Healing Foods author: patrick sadler http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg.../-/0970308353/ |

I could take you seriously if had even a clue of what you're talking about. KDE has gotten faster and faster lately. I haven't found any instance where Gnome outperforms it on pure speed. > Why? Any real-life examples? > Heck, that's the ssshaving cream i'm > trying to get away from. > Any database programmers out here? > Well, you have an idea of what I am > referring to. > Oh! it's pretty to look at. It's minimalistic, yet logically designed to where it makes efficient use of the screen without hindering ease of use. The user is provided quick access to launch, lower, raise, move, etc. and I just find it all $PROFOUNDLY LOGICAL! It does this out of the tarball too! =D Plus, if you are insane, you can border your screen with dockApps and impress your friends! I just wanted to see if anyone else might feel the same way. |

I do think that gnome and kde are great de's, but like you, seem to be slowing down a bit. I have used wm and liked it, and lately I've been taking xfce out for a spin, and I've been impressed. Just more reasons to love linux! |
