Default ltmodem package for Slackware 9.0?

Just installed Slackware 9.0 on my other Linux box (a PII with 96MB) and
am very impressed so far. Can someone point me in the direction of an
ltmodem package compatible with Slackware 9.0? The modem has worked a
treat with RedHat and mandrake in the past, so I'm hoping for similar
success under Slackware.

Thanks much
Slim

I'd need the full kernel source for that, and I don't have it I'm afraid.
Besides, compiling from the source would probably be a great deal of
hassle.

Is there really not a nice, painless slackware package for ltmodem
anywhere? Anyone know?

Thanks
Slim

I don't see that there is any choice but to install from the source if you
want your winmodem to work.

If you don't want something outside the package system use checkinstall to
install it.

by rushing in here and proclaiming the following to be true:

Then you shouldn't be using Slackware in the first place.

If you want everything to be done for/handed to you, you should prolly be
using Mandrake or any of the other hand-holding distros instead.

Have fun storming the Castle.

Don't send him there! Mandrake is so bleeding edge that if he lets it hold
his hand he will fall off the edge of the world and into a black hole!

Been there and done that. Now I am sane and running Slackware.

Let me rephrase this. You need to download and install the PACKAGES from the
/k directory from one of the slackware mirrors.

Then follow Billy Watt's advice and download the LTModem driver. This will
then compile against your kernel and allow your modem to work.

I know this because I have done it myself.

Also use Google to look for Modem Howtos.

You are being told this as thats the way to install extra software that
does not come in a 'Slackpack' no-one is being prescriptive.

That's a great philosophy, but I doubt it'll help you find an ltmodem
package for Slackware. Good luck compiling from source!

Now there's a brilliant strategy--your crippled hardware isn't working
properly, so you're going to install a crippled distro to fix it?

Good luck with RedHat.
