| Just installed Slackware 9.0 on my other Linux box (a PII with 96MB) and am very impressed so far. Can someone point me in the direction of an ltmodem package compatible with Slackware 9.0? The modem has worked a treat with RedHat and mandrake in the past, so I'm hoping for similar success under Slackware. Thanks much Slim |

Besides, compiling from the source would probably be a great deal of hassle. Is there really not a nice, painless slackware package for ltmodem anywhere? Anyone know? Thanks Slim |

Then you shouldn't be using Slackware in the first place. If you want everything to be done for/handed to you, you should prolly be using Mandrake or any of the other hand-holding distros instead. You need to download and install the PACKAGES from the /k directory from one of the slackware mirrors. Then follow Billy Watt's advice and download the LTModem driver. This will then compile against your kernel and allow your modem to work. I know this because I have done it myself. Also use Google to look for Modem Howtos. -- Regards Martin Hughes Linux User #283064 Blessed are those who expect nothing; for they shall not be disappointed. |

That's a great philosophy, but I doubt it'll help you find an ltmodem package for Slackware.
