Of course, you don't have to actually run the named daemon. Do a "chmod -x /etc/rc.d/rc.bind" to prevent it from running during system startup, if you don't need it. Quoting from PACKAGES.TXT from the Slackware 9.1 CD: <QUOTE> PACKAGE NAME: bind-9.2.2_P3-i486-1.tgz PACKAGE LOCATION: ./slackware/n .... bind: The named daemon and support utilities such as dig, host, and bind: nslookup. .... </QUOTE> HTH Kostas -- "They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety." -- Benjamin Franklin, 1759 |

And, since that was your intention, you should feel pleased. > i can only say that no offence was intended, And you are lying. > sorry if it came across that way. No, you're not sorry. He's about the five thousandth poster you have offended. > i was just trying to show you how you can find this info for > yourself. just in case you ever have a similar question again. No, that is how, in your mind, you justify insulting the poster. Your role is not to teach. Nobody comes here looking for a teacher. Especially a sarcastic one like _you_. If you can't simply answer the question go somewhere else and teach somebody who wants to be taught. IOW, G'nite Wanda, cordially, as always, rm |
