Newbie kscd and grip

I have added myself to the disc group. kscd plays CD ok. kscd recognizes the
device grip does not. For grip I have to specify my device in order for it
to play; as in "grip -d /dev/sr0".

Also when I do that as a user, grip could not connect to freedb.freedb.org
CDDB, CDDB access is not a problem as root.

Not such a biggie but Any ideas?
