| Hi Is there anything like AM radio tuner that works under slackware? I can see a lot of FM/TV tuners but i cannot find AM tuner. I'd like to record my AM shows on the hard drive to mp3. Does anyone know about something like that or know how to do it? Thank you very much for help -- Ralph |

Get an am radio w/ earphone plug and run a patch cord to your sound card line in. You'll hafta record wav and then convert to mp3. You can get a patch cord from ratshack. nb |

I'm building the system based on Slackware that will be recording shows and storing them on the HDD. I need the way to record as many radio stations as possible using one computer. Right now im trying to figure out the way to do that as efficiently as possible. -- Ralph |

A quick search on google and some surfing gave the following pages: http://wiki.linuxquestions.org/wiki/Audio http://whats.all.this.brouhaha.com/?p=199 http://wiki.linuxquestions.org/wiki/RadioSHARKSource I have no experience from the above hardware myself though. It seems as if you will need to run a 2.6 kernel. regards Henrik -- The address in the header is only to prevent spam. Unless you plan to run a collection of cheap receivers controlled by timers of some sort into your sound card for digitization, you will need a digital reciever with a PC interface. That will cost $250 and up -- maybe a lot up. Try the following Google search for a lot of interesting links "digital shortwave receivers pc interface linux". (Note that most digital shortwave receivers will receive the medium wave AM band -- 530-1700KHz as well -- but you'd want to check before buying). Here's a promising looking link -- http://www.linradio.com/sources.htm |
