Hello all!

Why me?!
Decided to connect a piece of hardware to Linux box an RTFM'ing the
subject I found myself in a shape of pretzel.
lpd, lpr, printcap, CUPS, PostScript(Ghostscript) and so on......

[The more I know people, the more I love animals]
Mouse works as intended and so does
cat <filename>.txt > /dev/lp0.

So now I need a guide(dog?) to direct me to some "incredible" HOWTO that
will guide me step by step from 'alpha' to 'omega' without side trips
all over the web.

HELP!!!!

He want to say you that if you would like to configure a printer; you
can do it graphically by pointing a web browser to http://127.0.0.1:631/
without worring much of ppd, printcap, etc... You must ensure that
/etc/rc./rc.cups is executable. As you were not specific about your
problem we cannot help you more

If you want magical rituals to perform to excise the technological demons
from your new hardware and bring the blessings of Bob Dobbs to your computer,
we can help based on the information given. Any other sort of help would
require a mind reader since you mention neither name of said mysterious
hardware nor the nature of the issue you had with the named printing related
items.

Assuming you you want to use cups, make sure cups is running.
As root chmod +x /etc/rc.d/rc.cups if it isn't already executible.
Do /etc/rc.d/rc.cups start if it isn't already running. Point your
web browser at http://localhost:631, which is the cups web based
administration tool. Click on "printers" at the top of the first page,
click on "add printer" on the bottom of the next page, and do what it
tells you to do. You need to know the make and model of your printer,
which interface it is connected to and have already loaded the kernel
modules for it. I assume you already have done this part. The only
hard part is when there isn't a printer description file for your printer.

Ref. the 'pussy' mentioned above.
So Centronic - D25 connections understand each other. Nothing
'mysterious' in that.
