The Bob logo came from the Church of the Subgenius where the worshipped
Bob and slacking or being slackers.

The name Slackware was given to Pat by the Church of the Subgenious, a
tongue-in-cheek "religion" that deifies "Slack". From my limited
knowledge of them they basically are a spoof on other religions and are
loosely organized if at all. Best bet is to ask them. Their "leader" I
guess you would say is Bob Dobbs (the smiling pipe-smoking head). He
can give you more info on that.

Didn't mean to add this link. The linuxpackages.net maintainer wasn't
part of the Slackware development team.
