| Hi, * I remember, back in Slack 11, having had a pager on my KDE taskbar (I mean the bar that usually resides at the bottom). Now its seems to be gone, and I can't find a way to get it back. I can, of course, install a separate pager, but I would prefer to have it on (and inside) the taskbar |

Try this. Move your current .kde directory and start kde and allow it to create a new home dir. The pager should be there by default. Then, move the RC files etc. that you need for your apps. When I switched from Slackware 8 to Slackware 9.1 I found out too late that users logging in to both Slackware 8 and Slackware 9.1 machines on the network got their .kde directories corrupted as the different KDE versions did incompatible things with ~/.kde. Now, when adding Slackware 12 machines to the network I have modified the kde settings so that Slackware 12 machines store its settings in ~/.kde_slack12. This has the drawback that every user will have to once again select language, look-and-feel, and level of eye-candy when they start KDE for the first time on Slackware 12, but at least I know that any KDE incompabilities will not mess up the users settings. The machines were I did this modification is at work, but if I remember right I could accomplish this by modifying the kdehome variable in /usr/bin/startkde. regards Henrik -- The address in the header is only to prevent spam. If you start it from the KDE menu (utilities -> desktop -> pager) then the pager will float detatched on the desktop as you describe. If you right click on the panel and select "add applet", you can add pager to the panel as you wish to. Just in case this is what you are doing. |
