Up until last year, I hadn't touched a RedHat derivative in six years. I still struggle with the many screwy oddities of RedHat. I'm sure others in this newsgroup are in a similar situation. > OTOH Slackware has got the reputation of most simple and UNIX like linux > distro (rightly or wrongly again), does this allow the users to see > digressions of the other distors more clearly? One needs to be looking to be able to spot anything. And, for better or for worse, RH is currently the de facto standard in linux. So RH users should be able to spot variations in Slackware. (Fat chance of that, though!) > Well unless one (old time Slackware user) has not looked at other distros > closely enough maybe. Maybe Slackware newbies newcomers have wrong > expectations from Old timers. I would say that RedHat newbies have inaccurate expectations from Slackware old-timers. same between distros--it's all linux, after all. But the stylistic differences are significant enough that asking about, say, compiling a kernel in RH in a Slackware newsgroup is like a hosehead American trying to watch a movie with really strong Irish accents--much understanding is lost, even though the American and the Irish both speak (more or less) the same language. - --keith - -- kkeller-mmmspam@wombat.san-francisco.ca.us (try just my userid to email me) AOLSFAQ=http://wombat.san-francisco.ca.us/cgi-bin/fom -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.0.6 (GNU/Linux) Comment: For info see http://www.gnupg.org iEYEARECAAYFAj8+Z8UACgkQhVcNCxZ5ID9MkgCeOCI5iyUyi4 t9KB6JJfkOnZZ1 2KsAn28rtRCTHWJBFQ/1wM3Ad5/PIGvS =vh20 -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- |

You're just saying that to be contrary. You are an idiot and you are asked once again to stop posting. cordially, as always, rm |

Did you wish to discuss the other points I brought up in my post, or did you just want to complain about shoddy treatment some more? I can predict that the latter will bring additional shoddy treatment. Tell you what, I'll cut you a deal: you stick to technical topics relating to Slackware, and I'll stop taunting you. I didn't read your post correctly first time, must have been all the beer I had after supper maybe. It happens. You are acting like a child. I am sorry, and screw RH and SuSE. |

Is this an indication of unsatisfied supressed feelings or passions? |

Do you mean "you" as in me, or "you" as in general. I personally was making a joke. > Is this an indication of unsatisfied supressed feelings or passions? Actually it's a song, a song I happen to like. I like the statement that you (general) doesn't own me, no one but me has control over me and just becase I might flirt, kiss or whatever doesn't mean that I am bound to that person unless /I/ agree to be. Even Faux_Pseudo knows how lucky he is. :-) Mari C-x # -- "A kiss that has no ropes, no strings no obligations, I don't own you, be quite sure, you don't own me." -- The Tear Garden 'In Search of My Rose' |
