| Hi. I've got an ancient Compaq Armada 1530 laptop, which doesn't have USB ports - only 2 pcmcia slots. I installed Slack 10 and found that the Kouwell 'CardBus to USB 2.0' adaptor worked 'out of the box', giving me 2 USB ports which in turn recognised my Disgo pen drive and Freecom CD burner. Why shouldn't it work? Linux kernel has support for pcmcia and usb. Conversion is done internaly in the card itself. So all slack sees are usb ports, nothing more. I'll bet it even works in 9.1 -- |
