| Hi, I vaguely remember having read about a Slack-specific Gnome derivative that should be faster than its cousin. Only I can't remember more than that. Was about a year ago, or maybe only half a year. Anyone knows more about it? Niki Kovacs -- Whereof one cannot speak, thereof one frequently goes ranting on and on at ball-breaking length. Have you ever used Dropline? Or are you doing like most other naysayers? Just simply parroting other naysayers who haven't used the product either. I use Dropline and I like it much. |

| Actually, I've used Dropline with a lot of success. The installer/updater is head and shoulders above regular Gnome, and it has some nifty Slack-specific stuff in it. They stay up to date, too. I don't see why NOT to use Dropline, in fact. -- STEVEN HUSTED "NeoSadist" <neosad1st@charter.net> wrote in message news:10k68stdnr19576@corp.supernews.com... > Kiki Novak wrote: > > > Hi, > > > > I vaguely remember having read about a Slack-specific Gnome derivative > > that should be faster than its cousin. If NeoSadist replies that he's used it, I can accept that as well. He was the one to whom I directed the question, after all. The reason I asked the question is that, for the most part, those I've seen and heard discouraging the use of Dropline have never actually used it. Kind of like Slackware and Linux them-selves. The vast majority of naysayers have never actually used them. |

I'm not saying Dropline is bad. It's a nice idea. However, I'm only not recommending it because I don't want someone to blame me if it goes awry. > The installer/updater > is head and shoulders above regular Gnome, and it has some nifty > Slack-specific stuff in it. But hey, I'm not worried about it one bit, because I can just add you to my killfile. I am liberated because I don't have to respond to posts with insults as you like to do. -- BOFH Excuse #181: Atilla the Hub |

I'm only recommending against it, as it has more stability or install issues than Slackware itself does. I'm only doing so because I don't want someone coming back with their problem saying that it's my fault. I guess it's an IRC help channel thing.... -- BOFH Excuse #380: Operators killed when huge stack of backup tapes fell over. |
