Default slackpkg + kernel-2.6.x

It don't seem like any one here like's to talk about slackpkg.......
but I am going to ask anyway <smile>.

is there a way I can get slackpkg to download / upgrade the 2.6.x
kernel-generic, modules, headers & kernel source? slackpkg just wants
to upgrade the 2.4.x kernel even though it's not installed.

Thanks,
Wayne.

Dunno, I find wget works very well for me.

I wouldn't recommend automatically updating the kernel. Even between
minor versions and this is a major upgrade. If I were you, I would
manually do it.

Don't get me wrong, I love Slackpkg and use it actively in many
installations but kernel is a little more tricky.

No, slackpkg is hardcoded to ignore all packages in /testing, so you
will have to manually edit the slackpkg scripts yourself if you want it.

To stop if upgrading the current kernel packages you have, just add the
relelvant package entries to /etc/slackpkg/blacklist

However, as has been already recommended, you would be far better off
manually downloading and installing the 2.6.x /testing packages, as
there is a little bit of extra setup they need to work (setting up an
initrd, IIRC).
