Is it worth opening a port on my firewall for it? --keith -- kkeller-usenet@wombat.san-francisco.ca.us (try just my userid to email me) AOLSFAQ=http://wombat.san-francisco.ca.us/cgi-bin/fom -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.0.6 (GNU/Linux) Comment: For info see http://www.gnupg.org iEYEARECAAYFAj91H4YACgkQhVcNCxZ5ID9SAwCfVNHDHkjOpO Ol81O2RjsD/DIx pYoAnRKrRpjBnwusgrQ8HkcyjD3pu1z1 =FQx7 -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- |

And makes you feel warm and fuzzy because of helping others. However, I can't install 9.1 on my laptop somehow. I get a bad EIP value with a hex dump shortly after booting the CD. Yes, the md5 sums match... I'll think more about it in the morning. Best, Merl |

If you open the port on your firewall (as I did), it helps others to download from you. I haven't noticed any difference in download speed after opening the port. I got the first ISO at about 48-50KB/s, but the second one is going rather slower (8-9KB/s). -- Simon <simon@no-dns-yet.org.uk> **** GPG: F4A23C69 "We demand rigidly defined areas of doubt and uncertainty." - Douglas Adams |

Definitely yes. Finally we can download ISOs with reasonable speed. -- [ ----------< Live Long And Prosper !!! >---------- ] [ Jaroslaw Swierczynski <swiergot@intersec.pl> ] [ RLU: 207395 GG: 1834439 JID: swiergot@intersec.pl ] [ -----------------> Think Slack <----------------- ] |

In fifteen minutes I'll continue my 9.1 ISO download on it, allowing others, too. I was getting about 13K/sec down and sharing about 15K/sec up when it was running earlier (that uploading really bogged down my already craptacular DSL). As the other guy said, I'm gonna do it to share with folks. :-) -- Rob | If not safe, Email and Jabber: | one can never be free. athlonrob at axpr dot net | -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.2.2 (GNU/Linux) iD8DBQE/dTI5hm6KEoOOAe0RAi4PAKCan8fEgMDz5l+eXYxqleGch0NkCQ CcCa3K 5nJeDSrKtFybo2nBBJW5YAQ= =Clk/ -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- |

My download was a little slow also so I used "--max_upload_rate 7" and the download rate went up by about 120-130K/sec on a cable connection. -- Confucius: He who play in root, eventually kill tree.
