Doubtless it was .. but I like to err in that direction, so that
someone doesn't have to be all that knowledgeable to simply follow
a documented process.

Since no FAT size was specified, mkdosfs defaulted to a FAT16
filesystem (it chooses between FAT12 and FAT16 depending on size
of partition when no size is specified; we used 256MB dongles for
the project).
