is there any apps that come with slack v8.1 to see the speed of my network?
right now i'm using NETWATCH...it does an okay job, but i want something
better. if there isn't anything else that comes bundled with slack 8.1 (i
installed full thing), please recommend it

I like iptraf, but don't think it comes with 8.1 (unless it's on one of
the the other CDs). Have a look through freshmeat.net.
