The abuse may not always be coming from a rogers subscriber, of course. Look at the full headers of the offending post and use the X-Complaints-To or similar header. You can also inform news.admin.net-abuse.usenet about the problem. Clearly there's an issue with some people who dislike pgp signed posts. Of course unlike HTML, a PGP signed message still includes the full cleartext of the original post so there should be no problem with legibility. What it comes down to is, spamming a newsgroup with worthless content (automatic followups to any PGP signed message) becomes a spam/abuse problem. |

The continued and flagrant violation of those guidelines will be flagged, the abusers identified, and demands for responsible behaviour will be made. Your attempts to frame a valid complaint against this behaviour as "spam" identifies you as an intellectual coward. You are asked to stop posting. cordially, as always, rm |

But you need not advertise it whenever you do so. This can be likened to the problem with email viruses and the practice of bouncing back trouble reports. It adds to the total garbage on the internet, whereas the best route would be to simply drop the offending content. -- Jem Berkes http://www.sysdesign.ca/ |

For 99.9% of the people on the Usenet, PGP sigs are worthless content. So people who post worthless content are going to complain about people posting worthless content? Is it anywhere near April 1st? These stupid PGP sigs are just the first step: Next, they will be rationalizing 20 line commercial sigs because every one has to make a living, right? Needs to be stopped now, and if someone is making it uncomfortable for the tiny minority of selfish and self-important paranoid faddists who use PGP on the Usenet..... (I can see it for like a transaction with a person's bank or lawyer or corporation, but USENET!!!????) ......then they DO deserve a medal. -- Alan C Posts with sigs of > 4 lines, or not in plain text, are dumped by my filters. |

It immediately flags those who are in violation of usenet .sig policy. Again, you _know_ this and merely pretend not to see it in some feeble attempt to give your charge of trolling against us some credibility. The fact remains, however, that there is a minority of posters, accurately referred to as "pgp trash trolls," who continue to violate usenet .sig policy for no reason other than it pleases them to do so. These persons will continue to be flagged and identified in the name of the greater good of the usenet community. cordially, as always, rm |

Then why can't you just compile a list of the people who you feel are 'pgp trash trolls', then once a week post a message explaining your findings to that effect? Same information content, much less annoyance. -- Jem Berkes http://www.sysdesign.ca/ |
