Default ATI drivers

Hello all,
I've got an ATI Radeon 9600SE 128MB video card: I downloaded the latest
ati-drivers (with emerge ati-drivers), and used the module fglrx, with
internal and external agpgart; DRI starts, acceleration works and so on but
there is a problem: after a few minutes I use 3D games (Neverwinter nights,
quake3, unreal tournament 2003), the linuxbox hangs up. I tried to use the
"option modulekernelparm agplock=0" as it says, but there's nothing to do.
Can you help me?

This is my lspci:

I can't be of much service to you because I own an nVidia, but this
might be of interest to you:
