Default Audio upgrade...

Say Group...

I'm ready to spend some bucks in the effort of upgrading from my current
crop of ISA, PCI and onboard audio solutions...

Would someone recommend a current, state of the art, Linux compatible, PCI
audio card?

I'm edging more towards the top of the heap. Money is less of an issue than
say sound quality and functionality.

Thanks, in advance.

Jerry

Go with one of the Creative cards, they have the best sound to me and they're
supported easily by ALSA.

sorry guys, but this is since the latest audigy-cards no longer true:
either you install a DRM-aware binary-only module or most of the nice
features (digital recording, 5.1 sound, ...) are not availiable.

Just my 2 cents of EUR,

Henning

sorry, no assumption, I've read it somewhere... Let's do the google:
http://www.theregister.co.uk/content/4/27232.html

The binary-only driver I'm unable to find, it may have been discarded since
I had found it.

Sorry, no better information availiable,

Henning
