| Greetings gentoo users. I am attempting to build a gentoo configuration using the universal live cd image. I am using the stage1 tarball. I have untarred the portage archive into /usr I have copied over the distribution files as directed. As a side note I have no network as of yet. I can load the appropriate modules for my NIC but adsl-start just times out. No problem, I can probably configure the dialer later. However, I am now at the bootstrap stage of chapter 6. When I run /usr/portage/scripts/bootstrap.sh I get a screen that is telling me that various ftp sites are being polled to see if a file can be located...then the script fails telling me it failed to locate some portate*.tar.bz2 archive. I didn't use the -f flag with the script. Why is it trying to find a file when all the files should already be in place? Any help would be appreciated. thanks, dk |
