Default CD Installation

Has anyone performed the CD only install of 1.4? I loved my 1.4 rc2 install,
but I just can't spend the amount of time required to download and compile
everything. Mandrake and RedHat are not good, but install pretty quick. If
you have how long did it take using the CD's?

Thanks

Well, if you start it from stage 3, the base install will take only the
time required to emerge system or so. Adding extra packages, if you have
the second CD, will be quite short as long as no updates are availible.

With some coffee, a night and you have a system working.

Why do you need to reinstall anyway? If it works, don't fix it.

Thanks. That sounds much better! My disk died, I loaded Mandrake, then
RedHat and just can't get used to them, even though I've used Mandrake for
three years, I want Gentoo back.

I thought half the reason for running Linux was because we like fixing
things that worked perfectly before we started
