| I have a Gentoo live 3stages cd of 1.4rc4. I'm wanting to install this on a Pentium 133MHz with 80MB of RAM and a ~1GB HDD. I was just wondering if anyone else has compiled Gentoo on a 486 of similar stats and how long it would take. -- Wielder of the mighty +1 LARTsaber of Unsubscribe Instructions At End of Message, the +3 Clue-by-Four of No Attachments to a Mailing List, and the -4 Shield of No Spell Checker http://joseph-a-nagy-jr.homelinux.org |

If it has a fast network connection to a fast Linuxbox, I would advise using distcc from as early as possible in the installation process. That'll speed things up a notch! If you have to do it with only this computer, it'll take a few days for console-only system and about a week for an X-desktop with some apps you need (browser, email, office, WM/DE). -- A Dieu, Robert Zwerus - e-mail: arzie@dds.nl ICQ UIN: 3943443 - MSN: robert_zwerus@hotmail.com |

| I compiled on a comp of similar (Pentium 200) stats, and it took a few days to get what I wanted: Apache, Samba, MYSQL, ALSA, etc. No X. FYI, Pentiums aren't 486's, they are considered 586's.
