Had like problem the other night, and I deleted all in /var/tmp/portage,
next did 'emerge --sync'. Then 'emerge k3b' went fine - good luck.

Could be caused by a gcc upgrade.
Try "ldconfig" and use gcc-config to set the right gcc version,
see /usr/lib/gcc. "source /etc/profile && env-update" afterwards.

$ ldconfig
$ source /etc/make.conf
$ gcc-config $CHOST-$(ls /usr/lib/gcc-lib/$CHOST -1 | tail -n 1)
$ source /etc/profile
$ env-update

Did you emerge sys-libs/libstdc++-v3 ??

Ok I followed the above as well as deleting /var/tmp/portage and doing an
emerge --sync and I still get the failure.
I have discovered what the problem is, but I don't know how to fix it.

It seems that the directory it is looking for,

/usr/lib/gcc-lib/i386-pc-linux etc is not there!

I have /usr/lib/gcc-lib/i686-pc-linux-gnu etc instead!

Any idea how to fix this?
