| Hi u all, I'm trying to emerge vlc, but it stops with this error : localhost jf # emerge vlc Calculating dependencies | emerge: there are no ebuilds to satisfy "dev-perl/DBI". (dependency required by "dev-perl/DBD-mysql-2.9007" [ebuild]) I've emerged perl, but it still says the same thing. Any idea, anyone ? thanks in advance, jf |

You need to get dev-perl/DBI and it seems to be something wrong with your portage tree, as dev-perl/DBI-1.46 has been marked as stable on all the supported arches of Gentoo. Sync your portage tree and try again, or emerge mplayer which has a lot smaller dependency. //Aho |

I would suggest you run a revdep-rebuild and take a look at http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/udev-guide.xml I doubt that trying to emerge vlc will make any difference here. //Aho |
