| Hey all: I posted this before but, there has been a change in the problem. The original problem: In attempting to compile wingd3d I performed a "emerge wings" command. I was logged on as root, obviously. This resulted ina a surriseing failure. Apparently elrang needed some sort of java to exist. Oddly enough, the portage system did not realize this dependency. Must be a bug in portage So I then emerged various java things. Since I do not know sort of java "erlang" & wingsdd need, I basically went and got them all. So now all sorts of java compilers and run time engines and all sorts of classes and wonderful jave-things are emerged. The new problem: So I tried to emerge wings 3d again. Well, it failed again. HOWEVER ... the error is now different. No mention of java in any error messages, so I have fixed the first problem. Here is the *complete* stdout capture: Calculating dependencies >>> Unpacking source... >>> Unpacking otp_src_R9C-0.tar.gz to /var/tmp/portage/erlang-9c-r2/work [32;01m*[0m Applying 9c.patch ... All that happens is that some java dependant applications don't get compiled. If that doesn't happen, there are bugs ... unclear where though. > > > And here is the *complete* stderr > capture: > > > ]2;Started emerge on: Dec 19, 2004 15:13:52]2; *** emerge > wings]2; >>> emerge (1 of 3) dev-lang/erlang-9c-r2 to /]2;emerge: > (1 of 3) dev-lang/erlang-9c-r2 Clean]2;emerge: (1 of 3) > dev-lang/erlang-9c-r2 Compilemake[2]: i686-pc-linux-gnu/Makefile: No > such file or directory > make[2]: *** No rule to make target `i686-pc-linux-gnu/Makefile'. > Stop. > make[1]: *** [generate] Error 2 > make: *** [depend] Error 2 > > !!! Weird, there are no real clues whatsoever in the output. I just tried to emerge erlang here and it went just fine. Maybe try to update your entire system first ..
