| If you really worry about flooding this newsgroup with nonsense, stop now. This newsgroup is a free place, not yours, and I'm not 'barging here asking for help'. Who do you take yourself for ? Stop your PC, take some hollydays with your girlfriend if you found one. |

| Albert enlightened us with: > This newsgroup is a free place, not yours Which is exactly why I'm as free as you are. You, on the other hand, made it clear that you think you have more freedoms than I have. > Who do you take yourself for ? Someone who has been helping people here for years in my spare time. I've also helped you, remember? > Stop your PC, take some hollydays with your girlfriend if you found > one. There is no need to get such an attitude. I helped you! Is this the only gratitude you can show us? Is this how happy you are that I taught something to you about Linux? Wow, what a great person you must be. Do you really think I take advice from someone like you? Think again. Sybren -- The problem with the world is stupidity. Not saying there should be a capital punishment for stupidity, but why don't we just take the safety labels off of everything and let the problem solve itself? |

Netiquette is just the answer to the question "Why does everyone call me PLONK?" PLONK. |

| So anyway, it was like, 20:49 CEST Oct 21 2004, you know? Oh, and, yeah, Albert was all like, "Dude, > What ? Apologise to the newsgroup ? Yeah, that was what he did. You probably misread it and thought he was making a suggestion since you're already biased into thinking everyone in this free group is out to get you. > Do you want to send me to the Gulag directly, comrade, or do you > give me a last opportunity to make a kneeling public apology ? You > are the one with the aggressive and intolerant behaviour. Inflated head, rude but thinks the other guy started it, refuses to follow unwritten rules that everyone else around you does.. | Thank you for that, Sybren. I have a lot of respect for people spending time to help others and an extremely high opinion about the people who have contributed to Linux and Open Source over the years. I too do my best when I can, believe me. You won't imagine the energy I spend to promote Linux in general and Gentoo in particular. And with success. But you don't need to advice people about such basic things as the way they post. If you read my first answer, you can see that I said "I kindly think that you should keep this kind of remark for yourself. Freedom means some degree of anarchy, by definition". Nothing hurting, just expressing my opinion. But Andy Fraser wrote : "Apologise to all members of this group who have seen all this before and are bored with it." And this is really too much. | French, yes. Any problem with that ? Do you mean my English has gotten so poor ? Possible. But I would have said 'apologies to this newsgroup', not 'apologise to this newsgroup'. If this is a language problem, then OK. > > You're french, aren't you? > |

| In alt.os.linux.gentoo, Albert uttered these immortal words: > But Andy Fraser wrote : "Apologise to all members of this group who have > seen all this before and are > bored with it." > > And this is really too much. Sig Heil ! You obviously didn't bother to read another of my posts. You misread what I wrote but that's down to you. Other people here understood what I wrote. If you have something to say to me or about me then kindly do so by responding directly to my posts and addressing any points that I raise rather than resorting to this indirect mud slinging. You don't see me bad mouthing you to someone else do you? -- Andy. |

| I did not misread you, you flamed me with a last sentence I did not like. You wrote "apologise" instead of "apologies", and that makes a lot of difference. I accept you did not mean that. OK, gentlemen, I propose to break here. This is going too far, for nothing worth it. I'm sure everybody here has better things to do than these hopeless discussions. Real apologies to the newsgroup for the time lost. If you'd reread the post you replied to, you might get the context in which the comment was made. I can give you one clue for free - it had nothing to do with your language. hth, hand. -- Time flies like an arrow, fruit flies like a banana. Rather than take the tone you did you could've taken a the time to find out what I meant. You didn't do that and instead decided that I had flamed you. > I accept you did not mean that. Yet you still say I flamed you. In your mind only maybe, certainly not in mine. > OK, gentlemen, I propose > to break here. This is going too far, for nothing worth it. Amen and goodbye. -- Andy. |
