| The idea is to have a Gentoo based media centre, I have had a look at a mates where he has a Gentoo Distro that has turned his XBox into a media centre and it looks and works great. Im looking at stuffing Gentoo into a shuttle and using that instead and that will make things easier. The plan would be to install a commandline version of all the programs needed and just add a "front end" that send the commands to the CL programs and so not waste space with the GUI? Can anyone recommend a good "front end" - especially if it was an XHTML based with CSS styles (to allow the easy use of themes please?)? Anyone recomendations would be great. PS - my level at the moment is Im a web programmer (XHTML, CSS2, Flash) and I have a dual boot XP and Linux on an AMD... ...but I learn quickly?! ;-) Cheers, Richard |

There is a live CD version available based on Knoppix to play around with first to check it out. Hope this is useful. |
