Default gentoo install

Hello,
Moving from rh9 to another distro and i'd like to try gentoo. The box
i've got doesn't have a bootable CD-drive, so i'm wondering if there's a
floppy option that will load the installer or a way to boot off say an
external drive?
Thanks.
Dave.

IIRC floppy images are on the LiveCD.

The problem with the world is stupidity. Not saying there should be a
capital punishment for stupidity, but why don't we just take the
safety labels off of everything and let the problem solve itself?

If you already have RH9 on it, you could also try to install Gentoo from
within it. I installed my two Gentoo boxes through RH7.2 and Knoppix,
respectively. Of course the RH "upgrade" was done onto new hard disks.
It might be a bit more tricky if you plan on keeping the same disks ...

Hello,
Thanks, i'd like to scrap rh when gentoo is fully installed. Is there a
method i could boot off of say a floppy and get network access? I've got an
nfs server/tftp server and i could point the installer there.
Thanks.
Dave.

You seem to have misunderstood what he said:
You can install Gentoo from _within_ RH, or any other running distro.
This will not have anything to do with the running distro after it's
installed - you can scrap everything except the Gentoo bits.

Obviously.

If you have network access you can install direct from the Internet -
you'd only need the minimum ISO to install.
