| Hello Gentoo devs, I am using a Lenovo ThinkPad and want to use its capability of detecting movements and parking the harddisk's head for data security. In order to get this working it's necessary to apply a kernel patch manually. The following link leads to a How-To from ThinkWiki which explains these steps in detail. http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/How_to...iling_a_kernel I am asking if you are willing to include this patch in the official gentoo-sources. Gentoo's Portage is very useful and I guess many ThinkPad users would like to use it for easily setting up their ThinkPad's security capabilities. Comments requested Daniel Böhmer, Germany |

I have seen the Gentoo developers _post_ messages to this newsgroup regarding Gentoo-related announcements, but I've never actually seen any of them participating in any discussion here or providing a solution to users with problems. For as far as I know, this newsgroup is occupied by Gentoo *users,* not by Gentoo developers. Thus, I think you'd have better success trying to contact the developers through the channels mentioned on the Gentoo website... Hope this was helpful... ;-) -- Aragorn (registered GNU/Linux user #223157) |

The Elite generation was replaced by the Doom generation, which in turn have now been replaced with the World of Warcraft generation. For better and for worse. Regards, -- *Art |

| Hello, > These days, I believe most Gentoo developers are too /young/ to have heard > of or care about Usenet. Thank you for answering. I am wondering if I am too old but I suppose I am just some strange person that cares about the Usenet with the age of 19. Following a hint from the channels I have just filed a bug to bugs.gentoo.org (212905). If you're interested in this topic follow the discussion there. Greetings Daniel Böhmer |
