Hi,

Can anyone tell if there is a standard way in gentoo to have static
routes survive a reboot? Or is the only solution to roll my own
/etc/init.d/routes script that will do that?

I'd imagine you'd have to create the file yourself, though that shouldn't
be that difficult. Don't forget the routing tabler is only stored in ram
so is blown away when you shut down.
