| Hi all, I've been using Gentoo and loving it for about 3 weeks now, and I've downloaded heaps, but I'm thinking it's time to set up the system for real, with only the bare minimum of things on it. I'm currently using it as a desktop machine, but I'd like to cut it down. Has anyone got any suggestions of how I can "reset" my system so it's like it is at the last line of Chapter 11 in the handbook ( http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/handboo...part=1&chap=11 )? I just want to avoid re-installing from Stage 1 again. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanking you... ....Ric -- If you want to email Ric, use: ric_on_the_go--NO_SPAM@yahoo.com.au Just remove the "--NO_SPAM" -- Do you, uh... Gentoo? Gentoooo-hooo!! -- |

It contains all the source files and e-builds you have already downloaded. I actually have that directory on my server and NFS mount it on my workstation. -- Regards, Harry Phillips --- Failure is not an option, it comes bundled with your Microsoft product. |

You can emerge unmerge them in reverse order. Not a whole lot of fun, but there is probably some real clever way to automate it. -- jim |

That's basically the info I'm after... In the end, I have done something like that to remove KDE and try to stick with GNOME for a while. Thanks for the info, and thanks for everyone who's come up with an answer... ....Ric -- If you want to email Ric, use: ric_on_the_go--NO_SPAM@yahoo.com.au Just remove the "--NO_SPAM" -- Do you, uh...
