To fix my present non working version of Debian I feel I must download the latest (todays?) offering, and hope that it fixes more bugs than it re-exposes. My install (issue 17.1.05)(Sarge) has a broken Kppp, Kmail, Floppy drive, and screen configuration (which I'm able to fix). Also I was able to get pon working (much to my delight, but I need a visual `online` indicator). I then tried `apt-get install Gpppon`. That failed. Another problem is I've been trying to post here (it has worked in the past) but is not working now. My email and reply address are valid but I don't receive the Autoauthorizer reply. So I don't know if the moderator is blocking me or if it is a technical problem. If this doesn't elicit a response from the Autoauthorizer I will have to find other ways to get my message across. My regards. Shirley.

1) it's not necessary to send the same message to every linux related news group you can find. 2) since your problem seems to be related to updates/upgrades to Debian, have you thought of trying Ubuntu - it's designed to be "Debian with regular updates".

You are totally missing the point! Just try and see what is going on here :-)) "ray" <ray@zianet.com> wrote in message news > 1) it's not necessary to send the same message to every linux related news > group you can find. > > 2) since your problem seems to be related to updates/upgrades to Debian, > have you thought of trying Ubuntu - it's designed to be "Debian with > regular updates". > >
