Default install with no LiveCD

I have an old machine running an old TurboLinux base but heavily
customized. I'd like to install gentoo, but the box won't boot from the
CD regardless of how I have the bios set.

Is there any way to install from a boot floppy? There's already two other
up to date gentoo boxes on my network, one of which is an rsync and ftp
server for the packages.

Couldn't see anything at the website on this..

Regards

Boot from a floppy (e.g. tomsrtbt) as explained in
http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/altinstall.xml

Do not bother about parted if you do not want to move partitions around.
fdisk will be available on floppy downloaded from
http://www.toms.net/rb/

I used it while ago to install Gentoo-1.4rc1 on my old P100

You want to follow the alternative install directions since the box already
has a working linux on it. The main thing to examine is what cpu does it
have along with ram. If it's less then a p2-500 or equiv with 128 megs,
then I'd go the package route and use one of the other machines to build
the neccessary binary packages. You also have to option of setting up
distcc and using the other machines to help build the binaries and keep
them on just one of them for faster installation over the network.
