| This one has me baffled. I installed KDE 3.4, and no sound. Well, thought I, I'll just select 3.3.2 instead. Still no sound. Bottom line: do what I might (including dumping 3.4 and reemerging 3.3.2 from scratch) still no sound. No, the mixer wasn't muted either. Ah, well. One of the nice things about Linux is that you can make a *lot* of complete system backup images when you do major surgery. -- begin signature.exe A: Because it messes up the order in which people normally read text. Q: Why is top-posting such a bad thing? A: Top-posting. Q: What is the most annoying thing on usenet? |

Try 'aplay' from the command line (before and after you start KDE) and see if you can get something to play. -- Ben M. |

Then there are some bad written audio applications like RealPlayer 10 (Helix) which adjusts the audio settings instead of having an internal volume control, so if you turn off the sound in it and then exit, you won't have sound in any onther program untill you have used the mixer to turn on the audio. //Aho |

Also didy you change kernel? 2.6.11 breaks my sound. |
